Drifter is a rare kind of breed; a Blue Heeler that has 'actually' worked cattle. He began
working cattle at the grand old age of 7 weeks.
We first met him on a small ranch in Sandy Valley, Nevada. While the rest of the brood was
hanging around the house, looking for shade, Drifter was causing havoc out in the arena. The owner made it very clear,
“this one is trouble.” After we refused to be talked into one of his more domesticated siblings, he asked
if we had any experience with Heelers. Drifter would be our 5th.
Drifter’s brother Dickens got the nickname of “Thug” when he came into our home
and took it over from the other animals. Drifter made us ask ourselves; what is worse than a thug? He then gained the
nickname of “Terrorist”, but he is a terrorist that loves people.
His attention has switched from cattle to Flyball (and “heeling” his brothers),
He is still determined, focused and driven to win. He hates to be left behind, either by being left at home when we
go out, or by another dog going faster than him in the other lane. He works hard, plays hard and sleeps hard; while
always having the look on his face that says: “It is great to be Drifter.”
